The Miracle League is a wonderful organization that helps to build baseball fields for children with disabilties.  This helps allow children facing any physical and/or mental disability an opportunity to play the sport.  The field gives children with disabiltiies a chance to enjoy the experience of baseball by making new friends, building self-esteem and the ability to be treated like any other child.  A buddy system is put in place to help the athletes while playing the game.  The result of the buddy system is indescribable.  The bonding that occurs between the athletes and the buddies changes lives in such a positive way!

 

The Miracle League Field that will be next to Callen's Castle will be slightly different from the regular Miracle League Field.  Instead of having the standard square field for athletes to participate in baseball, we will work with engineers to design a rectangluar field designed to be used for a variety of different sports  in which children can participate.  Sports such as basketball, soccer, football, and others will be encompassed into the design.  This allows children options to develop thier skills. The Special Olympics has been made aware of the intent to create this field and supports the creation of the field and is excited to utilize the field for future Special Olympic Events.

 

The addition of the baseball field increases the funds required to create the park so, generous support will be needed.  We believe in the reality of achieving this goal because we believe that miracles that DO occur and that this project will change so many lives for the better in our community.
